is the official journal of the Italian Society of Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology (SIBioC-Medicina di Laboratorio).

BC publishes scientific papers on topics related to Laboratory Medicine, Clinical Biochemistry, and Clinical Molecular Biology.

Sections / headings of the journal are: Editorials (by invitation), Reviews (usually by invitation), Scientific Contributions, Opinions, Documents, SIBioC Documents, Clinical Cases, Letters to the Editor, SIBioC News.
BC publishes 4 annual issues (both paper and electronic version), and an additional issue dedicated to the Proceedings of the National Congress (electronic version only). Any other supplementary issues are planned as monographies to cover topics of particular interest selected by the Editorial Committee. The Clinical Cases Section is published in electronic version only.
Papers are accepted following an anonymous peer review and are published online (with the relevant DOI) prior to their inclusion in an issue. (https://www.sibioc.it/bc/numero/bcnum/156).
BC follows the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (www.icmje.org) for the drafting of manuscripts (see Standards for Authors). Both papers in Italian language and English language are accepted for publication.
The ethical standards observed by BC throughout the editorial process are based on the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE, http://publicationethics.org) (see Ethical Statement).
Submission of articles, editorial process, and possible publication are free of charge. When a paper is accepted, copyright is transferred to SIBioC, which acquires the right to reproduce and disseminate the paper.
BC is published with the financial support of SIBioC, which enters into a contract with the Publisher (Biomedia, www.biomedia.net) to define the publication specifications and costs. The Commercial Company acquires the publication rights of Biochimica Clinica and the Publishing Director of the Commercial Company (Editor-in-Chief) is responsible for the journal in the eyes of the law. The ethical standards of the Publisher are based on the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE, http://publicationethics.org) (see Statement on Ethics).
The Editor-in-Chief, the Editorial Board (Associate Editors) and the International Advisory Board do not receive any compensation; all editorial work (including reviewing, which also employs external reviewers) is carried out on a voluntary basis.
Access to the contents of the journal is restricted to members of the Society who have paid their annual dues and to subscribers to the journal; the Society documents are freely accessible. A 12-month embargo applies to all papers, after which they are released for free access.
